How to set up Google Search Console for your SleepPRO™ website

Google Search Console shows how your pages appear in Google: which searches bring parents to you, how often you show up, and which pages Google cannot read. It is free, and it helps Google find your new pages faster.

Why set it up

  • See the searches parents use to find you, such as "toddler sleep consultant".
  • Send Google your sitemap, so new pages and blog posts get found sooner.
  • Get an email from Google when one of your pages has a problem.

1. Add your website

  1. Go to search.google.com/search-console and log in with your Google account.
  2. Click Add property and choose URL prefix.
  3. Enter your full address, with https://, such as https://www.yoursleepbusiness.com. Click Continue.
On a SleepPRO™ subdomain, such as yourname.sleeppro.io? Use URL prefix.
Own your domain? You can choose Domain instead. It covers every version of your address. Google asks you to add a TXT record at your domain provider, such as GoDaddy or Namecheap. Once verified, go to step 3.

2. Prove the website is yours

  1. Under Other verification methods, choose HTML tag and copy the meta tag.
  2. In SleepPRO™, open the page set as your domain's homepage and click Edit page.
  3. Click Settings, scroll to Tracking and click Edit header code.
  4. Paste the meta tag and save the page.
  5. Back in Search Console, click Verify.
Set up Google Analytics with the same Google account? Choose Google Analytics as the verification method and click Verify. No code needed.
Keep the meta tag on your page. Google checks it again from time to time.

3. Send Google your sitemap

  1. In Search Console, click Sitemaps in the left menu.
  2. Enter sitemap.xml and click Submit.

Every domain connected to SleepPRO™ gets a sitemap automatically, with your funnel pages and blog posts. See How to access your domain's sitemap.

4. Read your results

  • Performance: the searches, clicks and position of your pages in Google.
  • Pages: which pages Google shows, and why others are left out.
  • URL inspection: paste a page link and click Request indexing to ask Google to add a new or updated page.
Your first data shows after a few days.
A page with Hide from search engines ticked does not show in Google. See How to control your page's visibility on search engines.
